Sunday School

The heart of St. Mark’s Christian Education program is its Sunday School for all ages. From September to May, we meet every Sunday at 8:45 am for a 1-hour session. For ages preschool through 5th grade, the first 15 minutes of Sunday School is rehearsal for the children’s choir; for other ages it is for fellowship. During the summer months, we hold special events rather than weekly sessions. The age divisions are:
  • Preschool
  • Kindergarten-1st grade
  • 2nd-3rd grade
  • 4th-5th grade
  • Confirmation class (6th and 7th grades; also meets Wednesday evenings at 7 pm)
  • 8th-10th grade
  • 11th-12th grade
  • Adults

Children’s Sermon and Children’s Church
As part of the regular service, all children are invited to participate in a special Children’s Sermon with Pastor at the front of the Sanctuary. After the Children’s Sermon, children from Kindergarten through 2nd grade may go to the Sunday School rooms to participate in children’s church during the regular sermon.

The nursery is available to children up to age 5 during Sunday School and worship service, as well as during special events (as needed). Families are welcome to use the nursery or to keep their children with them, according to their needs and wishes.

Vacation Bible School (VBS)
Vacation Bible School will be scheduled in Mid-Summer evenings (6:00-8:00 pm). A yearly theme will teach the Good News of Christ. All children from preschool through 5th grade are invited to participate. Older youth are welcome as leaders and assistants.

Lutheran Inquiry Class
At various times, our Pastor leads a Lutheran Inquiry Class for anyone interested in learning more about our Christian faith from a Lutheran perspective, and for those considering joining St. Mark. This is a 5-week series; scheduling is determined by the needs of the participants.
